Innovation & Technology|

On May 24th, the City of Brampton’s Economic Development Office hosted international businesses and partners at our new co-working space as part of the Collision Conference Innovation Road Trip. With more than 25, 000 conference attendees it was the perfect time to showcase the innovation community and invite international businesses to come for a regional tour of Brampton.

This tour highlighted the Health & Life Sciences Ecosystem in Brampton. Attendees visited two of Brampton’s innovative tech companies: Medtronic and Dynacare. They had the chance to meet with key individuals at each company, as well as Brampton’s Mayor Patrick Brown. They also had the chance to view the latest innovative products both companies are working on.

Lunch was served at the new Brampton Entrepreneur Centre space where Councillor Dhillon welcomed the delegates, and our partners from Sheridan and Ryerson University engaged in a panel discussion on the thriving innovation, tech and entrepreneurship scene in Brampton.

Ron Heslegrave, Chief of Research at William Osler Health System was also present to talk about the booming tech and health ecosystems in Brampton.

The tour was a great introduction to our health and life science sector in Brampton. This sector has grown 50% since 2005 with continue average growth of 6% year over year. This phenomenal progress is thanks to innovative companies such as Medtronic, Taro Pharmaceuticals, Dynacare, and Canadian Blood Services calling our great city home.
