Brampton will be working to build more connections in a return Human Health and Sciences sector mission to Boston, one of the U.S. leading health hubs in November.
Following productive missions to Atlanta and San Francisco earlier this year, Brampton will continue to market and promote its ideal Canadian location for growing American health and life science business through investment as well as trade.
Economic Development staff will meet with a minimum of 10 high-growth businesses which have been pre-qualified for market interest and financial ability to invest in our region. Lead generation experts CIDEP have been working to qualify companies and build the appointment schedule since early September.
After a detailed and lengthy face-to-face meeting to learn about the client’s expansion plans and to answer their questions about how to set up a business in Canada, Economic Development staff will have the opportunity to sell Brampton’s value proposition and potential solution, including the proposed Health Hub anchored by Peel Memorial Centre as well as Brampton’s partnership with TO Health, the regional cluster agency.
This is just the first step in what we hope will become a strong relationship. Follow-up protocol includes an immediate thank you note, a detailed email within two weeks addressing their specific questions, touch points at three-to-six months, as well as 12 month and 24 month intervals, and any relevant news updates, for example the official opening of Peel Memorial anticipated in early 2017.
Additional opportunities while in Boston may include follow-up meetings with previous client connections and meetings with Global Affairs Canada (a Trade Commissioner Service) and the Ontario International Marketing Centre. A post-mission report will be presented in early 2017 to the Economic Development Committee.
