Brampton Innovation District returns for fifth year to Collision Tech Conference with exciting Start-up Showcase and Ontario’s first Dealroom Start-up Ecosystem Platform

July 13, 2023

BRAMPTON, ON (June 22, 2023) – Returning for its fifth consecutive year, the Brampton Innovation District is set to reignite the Innovation spark at this year’s Collision Tech Conference.

With thousands of attendees as well as government ministers, foreign dignitaries, and media personalities expected to attend Collison, the Brampton team will showcase the City’s Innovation District and connect with hundreds of Canadians and international start-ups, venture capital firms, and investors.

Building on its presence last year the Innovation District this year will highlight three key pillars in 2023:

  1. Showcasing start-ups that have graduated from Brampton Innovation District incubator and accelerator programming on Brampton’s first Start-up Island at Collision
  1. Hosting a series of ecosystem tours for international start-ups and delegations from countries such as India, Vietnam, and Ireland.
  1. Featuring the recently launched Brampton Innovation District Dealroom Platform, with aggregated data and information about start-ups, incubator and accelerator resources, investors, and events.

The Brampton contingent, led by the Economic Development Office, showcases the Brampton Innovation District and its partners, including the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre, Brampton BHive, Altitude Accelerator, the Founder Institute, Sheridan College, Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, and the Brampton Venture Zone.

In 2023, the Brampton Innovation District will also shine a spotlight on its partner Algoma University and its National Centre of Excellence in partnership with Unity, which facilitates accelerated education, training and development of real-time 3D applications.

In recognition of the growing number of start-ups emerging from the Innovation District, Brampton will also be showcasing 24 start-ups at the Brampton Innovation District Start-up Island. The Start-up Island is a place where companies such as ConsidraCare, Scooty, and Investipal – and many more – will have an opportunity to demonstrate their technology, meet fellow start-ups and gain access to investors, tech leaders and other resources. In an exciting partnership with Metrolinx, the Brampton Innovation District is also launching a major promotion to highlight its presence at Collision and to draw awareness of the Brampton Innovation District. Recognizing Brampton’s central location on the train line connecting major hubs along Canada’s Innovation Corridor (the Kitchener-Waterloo, Brampton, and Toronto GO Train Line), a Metrolinx train will be wrapped in Brampton Innovation District branding with further announcement planed later this month.
