Health and Life Sciences Initiatives

Medtech Task Force

The goal of the MedTech Task Force is to advance medical innovation in Brampton, including Council’s priority for establishing post-secondary medical education and institutional uses benefitting Brampton residents and businesses.

This Task Force will help

  • find new ways to attract investment to support science, research and commercialization
  • foster the development of Brampton’s health technology ecosystem, and
  • support the development of highly skilled jobs and training opportunities for the medical industry.

First MedTech Task Force Meeting In 2023

With new and established companies calling Brampton home, and Toronto Metropolitan University’s new medical school – the first new medical school in the GTA in 100 years – Brampton’s health sciences sector is on the cusp of an exciting phase of growth.

TMU’s New Medical School in Brampton set to open 2025

The Invest Brampton staff, TMU staff, Deputy Mayor Harkirat Singh, Councillors Rod Power, and Pat Fortini. Along with members of the Med Tech Task Force, including Taro Pharmaceuticals, Boston Scientific, and William Osler Health System touring the new medical school site.
