A Made-in-Brampton Innovation Story

What began at the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre has grown into a bold, made-in-Brampton success story now anchored in the city’s Innovation District. SCOOTY Mobile Inc., founded and incubated in the City of Brampton, has achieved a major milestone in transforming how Ontarians move.

The Brampton-based startup has completed the second phase of its transit fare integration project with support from the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN). This innovation enables seamless fare payment between micromobility and public transit systems, bridging the critical first and last kilometre for commuters.

With a total project value of $3 million, including $1 million in provincial funding and over $2 million in industry contributions, SCOOTY is proving how local startups can scale into provincial solutions.

Transit + Micromobility: Why It Matters

SCOOTY’s newly developed Transit Payment API integrates transit fare systems with micromobility providers, creating one payment system for multiple ways to move.

This innovation is already having real-world impact in Brampton:

  • 50+ transit stations equipped with SCOOTY vehicles
  • 60% of trips directly connected to transit stations
  • Growing adoption of shared e-scooters and multi-modal commuting

By aligning with programs like One Fare, which saves Ontarians up to $1,600 annually, SCOOTY is helping make commuting more affordable, sustainable and convenient

Leadership Voices
