Brampton-based MDA played a key role in the Canadian Space Agency’s RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) which launched on June 12, 2019.
The RCM is Canada’s new generation of Earth observation satellites. The three identical satellites will scan our country and its waters daily to help manage our environment and waters. This important data will help ships navigate safely through Arctic waters, monitor our ecosystems and assist first responders when disasters strike.
As the prime contractor, MDA was responsible for the engineering design, construction and testing of the three satellites, the ground segment and operations development. Launch was provided by MDA subcontractor SpaceX. MDA is also providing mission operations services for the first year in orbit, supporting the integration of RCM into mission-critical activities across the Canadian government.
MDA is an outstanding example of a Brampton business playing a key role in projects whose benefits extend far beyond our City boundaries.
