Government of Canada invests in Italpasta – a leader in Brampton’s Food and Beverage sector

May 22, 2024

BRAMPTON, ON (May 14, 2024) – By the Government of Canada investing in local food manufacturers from the City of Brampton, such as Italpasta, we support them as they compete globally, create quality jobs and bring new food innovations to market.

Maninder Sidhu, MP for Brampton East, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade & Export Promotion, Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and colleagues announce the investment of over $1.7M in Italpasta by the Government of Canada on May 14, 2024

The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), alongside Maninder Sidhu, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development and Member of Parliament for Brampton East; and Francesco Sorbara, Member of Parliament for Vaughan–Woodbridge, announced that Italpasta was awarded an investment of over $1.7 million to enhance the production of its made-in-Canada pasta products.

Founded in Canada in 1989, family-owned and operated Italpasta is committed to sharing Italian traditions with Canadians by producing high-quality pasta products made with Canadian wheat. With this investment, Italpasta will be able to meet the rising demand for its products across North America by replacing old equipment with a state-of-the-art production line with triple the production capacity. As a result, the new manufacturing line and equipment will reduce production times, increase supply chain spending and create 10 skilled jobs.

The project will support clean growth outcomes by reducing the company’s energy consumption and carbon footprint by 20 percent through its modernized storage silos and manufacturing processes.

The Government of Canada is supporting businesses to grow as they deliver innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of both domestic and global markets, while reducing energy consumption
