It’s not just us saying it: it’s time to head Downtown Brampton to bring out the inner foodie in you!
On a beautiful spring day in April, the Office of the Central Area (OCA) hosted a quiet food tour Downtown Brampton. Food bloggers from the Toronto Star, The Kit, and Brampton Guardian were all invited to the Road Trip: Eat Downtown Brampton. The group started at J.Red & Co. and finished at Macaronz, spending the afternoon interacting and indulging in the different tastes of Brampton.
And there was feedback!
“You will leave Queen Gypsy (10 Main St. S) as stuffed as its cheesy chicken Kiev and maybe even as plump as a pierogi, but the food is better than any crop top” – The Kit

Inspired by the Placemaking Economy (link to article) event in February, the OCA has set out to cultivate a new personality for Downtown Brampton, including its burgeoning food scene. The range of what is available to eat embodies the diversity, ambition and energy percolating from local residents.
As you walk through Downtown Brampton, you’ll see an area that was once known for an Italian eatery has now has 10 different ethnic restaurant choices all within walking distance of each other.
Portuguese, Indian, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Canadian – you name it – when you come Downtown Brampton, it’s there.
In light of the success of this first food tour, the OCA is planning more food tours and connecting the tours to other vibrant Downtown landmarks and gathering places such as Garden Square, the Rose Theatre and Gage Park.
