Brampton is a hotbed of entrepreneurialism, and you’ll see many signs of that this summer.
The Brampton Entrepreneur Centre delivers two government of Ontario funded programs – Summer Company and Starter Company – that help youth entrepreneurs launch or grow a business.
You’ll find three Starter Company entrepreneurs at Garden Square over several Saturdays this summer. Cooking at the Market is a series of live cooking experiences that will be held during the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market. Demonstrating how to create fresh and simple meals using the Farmers’ Market produce will be Jason Rosso, head chef at J. Red & Co along with his Sous-Chefs, Jermaine Ebanks, Jeffrey Singh and Amanda Li.
The three are all Starter Company graduates with their own business: Jermaine, founder of Authenticity, a Caribbean fusion customized meal preparation service; Jeffrey, founder of Atom Tree which provides holistic nutrition consultation and vegan meal preparation services; and Amanda, founder of Nutrition. Wellness. Simplified, a personalized nutrition consultation service.
Also, 31 students from Brampton have been selected to take part in the Summer Company program, where they’ll get hands-on coaching and mentoring and up to $3,000 for their business. Sales, marketing, bookkeeping, customer relationship management and networking are just a few of the highly useful skills students develop – and of course, they get to keep any profits generated through their business.
