In just a few short months, 13-year-old Nathaniel Hawron has gone from pitching a business idea to presenting workshops at the Microsoft store at Square One.

In November, the young Bramptonian placed second at Techstars Global Startup Peel Region Weekend hosted by the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre. His business idea, supported by other Startup Weekend participants, focused on introducing children to technology by bringing robotics to birthday parties, where party-goers learn basic robotics and programming in a fun and comfortable environment. Nathaniel’s goal is to build on this foundation to ultimately launch a school for robotics.

As part of his second-place prize, Nathaniel received access to mentors from Microsoft. They loved his ideas, and helped him further by clearing him to offer bi-monthly workshops at the Microsoft store at Square One.

The Start Up Weekend event was just one of many programs supported and offered by the Brampton Entrepreneur Centre for new or growing businesses. Look for more events like these in 2018.
