Ryerson University’s Chang School of Continuing Education- Now offering cyber security courses in Brampton

Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education will officially begin offering courses in downtown Brampton in January 2019.

Starting in January 2019, two of the core courses in Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education’s Certificate in Computer Security and Digital Forensics will be offered in the West Tower on George Street in downtown Brampton:
Computer Network Security (CKDF 110) focuses on security threats, vulnerabilities, and defence mechanisms – on Mondays between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Security Architecture and Design (CKDF 140) examines security frameworks and threat risk assessment methods – on Thursdays between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

“Cybersecurity is top of mind for many businesses in Brampton and across the globe,” said Councillor Jeff Bowman, Economic Development Chair. “The Chang School programming, and future plans for the downtown, present great opportunities for our highly diverse and talented residents to build professional skills for in-demand jobs.”

The Chang School is committed to education and lifelong learning, providing relevant, quality educational programming geared toward adult learners. “We are very much looking forward to bringing these crucial course offerings to the Brampton community and to preparing the next wave of technology-sector workers for the future challenges of cybersecurity,” said Dr. Marie Bountrogianni, Dean, The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education. “It is our privilege to create specialized learning opportunities for Brampton’s young and diverse talent pool to help narrow the skills and knowledge gap that currently exists in this emerging industry.”

The Chang School of Continuing Education operating in Brampton is an important milestone. Brampton is also moving forward on activity to open a new business incubator in downtown Brampton in 2019. Ryerson University expressed their support of this initiative, and their intention to add their leading expertise in entrepreneur development and innovation to the mix. Ryerson’s DMZ was recently recognized as the world’s number one university-based incubator.
