A landmark milestone for Brampton’s Davis Webb LLP

September 12, 2016

Brampton has history, and Brampton has business. Few have combined the two to the same extent as Davis Webb LLP, a Brampton law firm that is celebrating 100 years of operation this year. The firm deals with real estate and land development law, business law, personal estate planning and personal legal services, and its principals and partners are active in public service at community and regional levels.

A. Grenville Davis Q.C., an eminent lawyer and crown attorney for Peel County, founded the firm in 1916. William G. (Bill) Davis, Grenville’s son, joined the firm in the mid 1950s. In 1959, Bill was elected to the provincial legislature and left the firm to devote his time to public service. The Hon. William G. Davis P.C. C.C. Q.C. served as Premier of Ontario from 1971 until 1985. He has rejoined the firm as Counsel, and is currently Chair of the Blue Ribbon Exploratory Panel for Establishing a University in Brampton.

“Davis Webb LLP have not only delivered exemplary legal service to our community, they have also been leaders in civic engagement,” says Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey. “We’re proud they call Brampton home.”

Ronald Webb Q.C. joined Bill and Grenville Davis in the late 1950s. Bill’s son, current partner, Neil G. Davis, later joined the firm and is the third generation of the family at Davis Webb LLP.

Davis Webb LLP is among more than 100 Brampton businesses that will be honoured at the Brampton Business Milestone event on October sixth at City Hall. The program marks business anniversaries of 25, 50, 75, 100 and 100 + years, and was launched in 2015. A highlight last year saw Jim Harmsworth accept a framed certificate recognizing 125 years of business for Harmsworth Decorating Centre, an iconic Downtown business and local landmark.

Brampton is a thriving hub of commercial activity, boasting more than 8,600 businesses, from national corporate headquarters to small and medium enterprises. Each contribute positively to Brampton’s economy, and the City of Brampton honours them by recognizing significant business milestones.
