On Saturday, hundreds of entrepreneurs from across Brampton came to City Hall for TELUS Pitch, Canada’s largest small business contest.
Local entrepreneurs made their elevator pitches (inside a life-size elevator) for a chance at over $150,000 worth of funding for their small business.
Mayor Patrick Brown spoke about Brampton being a place where startups are possible and ideas can flourish. Entrepreneur Kundan Joshi, founder of TheAppLabb, shared his top 4 tips for pitching your business.
Brampton was one of only 6 cities to host a live pitch as part of this national competition.
“Small businesses are an integral part of the Canadian economy, and have long been core to TELUS’ culture of giving back,” said Roi Ross, vice president, Small Business Solutions, TELUS who was also in Brampton for the event.
“Nearly a third of Canadians believe that as a country we can be doing more to support small businesses, which is why TELUS has created a robust support system for entrepreneurs through initiatives like TELUS Pitch which also provides essential funding and mentorship – no strings attached.”
The Brampton Entrepreneur Centre team was present throughout the event and provided tours of the city’s new co-working space.
