Mobii Systems is a South African technology company that is disrupting the streaming media services industry. Mobii specializes in scalable live video delivery solutions at ultra-low latency speeds. Their media services solutions let anyone deliver time-synchronized video anywhere around the world in speeds that can reach under 1 second in latency. They have recently made their North American debut.
The company’s solutions include Media Services, Sports Performance Analysis, and Smart Venues. Mobii Systems has worked with premier sporting organizations such as South Africa Rugby and Major League Rugby.
The company has found success in the South African and European markets, and has chosen Brampton as its home for expansion into North America. Greg Schultz, Chief Executive Officer of Mobii Systems shares that “choosing Brampton’s Innovation District as the location for our headquarters was the best choice for Mobii’s expansion. This base of operations will enable us to better serve and expand into the United States, the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. Mobii’s current goals are focused on developing their products and creating a basis for their infrastructure, while gearing up to eventually manufacture their products locally in Brampton. Clare Barnett from Brampton’s Economic Development Office explains that “Brampton’s Innovation District offers the resources and supports necessary for tech startups, such as Mobii, to successfully expand into the North American market. Our Innovation District is centrally located on Canada’s Innovation Corridor – we’re able to offer easy access to talent from Toronto to Waterloo and partnerships with post-secondary institutions.”
Clare also shared the importance that location plays in a business’s ability to successfully scale-up, “The Innovation District partners are specifically chosen to ensure businesses and startups have access to the training, infrastructure, and supports needed to grow. In Mobii’s case, they have access to all that the Innovation District offers, plus the added bonus of Brampton’s strong manufacturing sector.”
Mobii Systems is a graduate from the Incubator 16 program offered by Altitude Accelerator, an Innovation District partner, and was a successful referral from Brampton’s Economic Development Office to the Global Talent Stream.
