Twenty-eight longstanding Brampton businesses were recognized at the City of Brampton’s inaugural Brampton Business Milestone Event. The Brampton Economic Development and Tourism Office hosted the event. Councillor Jeff Bowman, Chair of the Economic Development Committee, along with Councillors Michael Palleschi and Doug Whillans, presented the recipients with framed certificates reflecting their achievements.
“We are truly proud of all these businesses,” said Councillor Bowman. “Large or small, they have all positively contributed to Brampton’s economy, and deserve to be recognized. We’re looking forward to making this a regular event, and honouring the exceptional business people operating in this city.”
The event was held in the Conservatory at City Hall. A highlight saw Jim Harmsworth accept a certificate recognizing 125 years of business for Harmsworth Decorating Centre, an iconic Downtown business and local landmark. As a generational business, currently being managed by Mr. Harmsworth’s son David, he commented at the event that he has four grandsons that could be willing to take the business forward many more years. Harmsworth Decorating Centre is the longest tenured Brampton business currently listed in the City’s records.
